Autopsy Inclusive in Pittsburgh Man Who Was Tasered, Dies
Tuesday, August 19, 2008
(Pittsburgh - AP) The attorney for the family of a man who died after suburban Pittsburgh police subdued him with a Taser says the man had 17 bruises and abrasions from the night of his death and suggests police caused them.
But attorney Howard Messer says a second autopsy hasn't yielded the cause of death for 37-year-old Andre Thomas.
Messer says his pathologist needs Thomas' heart, which the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office has. And he's waiting for toxicology test results.
The county's autopsy remains inconclusive pending toxicology results. But the medical examiner says there's no evidence Swissvale police used excessive force.
Police say Thomas was acting erratically and trying to enter people's homes when they encountered him on Aug. 4.
